The name MACS has been a part of our family’s history long before we started our plumbing company. It all began with Joe’s dad, Harvey McFerron. While most of the family pronounces it “MEK-ferron,” like McDonald’s, Harvey always said “MAC-ferron.” That pronunciation stuck with him—and later, with all of us.

Harvey was a sound engineer by trade, but 2008 hit and he was unexpectedly laid off. He had only a few months to decide what to do next. Instead of backing down, he took a leap of faith and opened MACS Pizza Works, a food truck in 2009. This was before food trucks were mainstream, and city ordinances for them weren’t completely fleshed out yet. Harvey had a knack for precision—he measured every ingredient down to the ounce—and his dedication to quality made the business a success. On weekends, Joe would help his dad run the truck, learning firsthand the value of hard work and business operations.

The name MACS continued with Joe’s brother, Mike, who launched MACS Landscaping in 2017. From leaf blowing to full-scale landscaping projects, Mike took on anything and everything related to outdoor spaces. When time allowed, Joe pitched in, bringing the same work ethic he learned from his father.

In 2018, Joe and I carried on the family tradition of building something from the ground up when we launched MACS Airbnb. What started as renting a single room in our home grew into multiple fully furnished short-term rental units on Madison Street in our hometown of Jefferson City, MO.

So, when we made the move to New Mexico and set out to start a new plumbing business, there was only one name that made sense—MACS Plumbing Company.

MACS Plumbing Company represents more than just a name. It stands for a legacy of hard work, rolling up your sleeves, and taking pride in a job well done—values that Harvey instilled in Joe from a young age. And while an Irish name might stand out in New Mexico, it carries with it the memory of Harvey’s quiet strength, intelligence, and determination. We may say McFerron, but in our hearts, it will always be MACK-ferron.

Welcome to MACS Plumbing Company—where quality, integrity, and a strong work ethic are at the core of everything we do.
